Insurance Companies Are in Business for Profit – At the Expense of Others!

Like any other business, insurance companies are in business in order to make a profit, and there is nothing wrong with that. All businesses are there for the same reason. It’s what makes the world go round.

Insurance companies profit at the expense of other people

However, almost every business makes a profit by providing value to people. They may provide a service, or they may sell products, but if those products or services don’t provide value to their customers, they are not going to be around for very long.

Insurance companies also provide value, but not always to their customers! Think about this: exactly how much value have you received from the insurance company who insures your car? Unless you have wrecked it in an accident that was your own fault, none! In fact, you could go your whole life without being involved in an accident, paying a small fortune in premiums, and getting absolutely nothing in return! So, in effect, the more carefully you drive, the less value you will get from your insurance!

The Other Driver Receives Value

Here’s another thing: you could cause another vehicle to have an accident without actually striking it, so there is no damage to your car. The person who will receive value from your insurance company – and your premiums – is the other driver. But that driver will receive as little as possible, because here’s the other thing: the less an insurance company pays out, the more profit it makes. Basic math. So, the insurance company will try as hard as possible to keep the amount of compensation payable to the minimum.

It works the other way around too. If you are in a non-fault accident, the other driver’s insurance company will do the same. It will also direct you to use an “authorized” body shop. How do you go about finding an authorized body shop? You use the one they tell you to. Why? Because no doubt the owner works for less than others in order to get the business. So, the insurance company pays out less. You don’t actually have to set about finding an authorized body shop because you can use any body shop that you wish. But the insurance company will try to persuade you to go about finding an authorized body shop, as you can see.

Here’s another thing that the insurance company won’t tell you. It’s that you have every right to legal representation after a non-fault accident. They don’t want you to do that because they want to bully you into accepting as little compensation as possible, and if you try to deal with them on your own, they will win. That’s because they employ expensive lawyers to fight you on their behalf. Why? Profit, of course.
